It is truly an honour for SUPER SEDANS to be invited to a part of this wonderful event commemorating the life of one of WA’s most celebrated drivers in Michael Figliomeni. Michael started his racing career in a Super Sedan taking off a Feature win at Claremont Speedway 1994 driving for AJ Nylander.

Spanning over 20 years Michael Figliomeni amazing achievements’ include:

 ·        4 times Australian Speedcar Champion

·        7 times W.A. State Speedcar Champion. 

·        2 times winner West Australian 360 Sprintcar Championships

·        Winner of Australian Speedcar Grand Prix 1999-2000

·        Captained the Australian Speedcar  Test Team in Auckland, New Zealand 1996-97

·        Won 50 lap World Derby in New Zealand 1996-97 (against International Teams)

·        4 Feature wins in Bay Cities Racing Association  and United States Automobile Club tracks in U.S.A. 1995 to 2000

·        20th in Belleville Nationals, Belleville, U.S.A. 1995 (against the 200 best drivers in the world)

 On a personal level Michael Figliomeni was a man of integrity, compassion and generosity and was highly respected in all facets of his life.  A truly loving and committed family man he maintained a humble and honourable character through out his luminous career.

Michael Figliomeni’s untimely passing at the age 43 years in October 2006 left a resounding sadness in the world of Speedway but his legacy lives on today and he will always remain a legend of Speedway and a true Western Australian Sporting Champion.
